Plantfood

Plantfood are a blood-pumping jazz force summoning an onslaught of electronic and acoustic sounds with influences ranging from heavy hitters like The Prodigy to the spiritual explorations of John Coltrane. The 6-piece collective guides audiences through the extremes of the mosh pit to serene meditations. Forming within and coming up through the inspiring Leeds Jazz scene, Plantfood have quickly become a defining sound in the scene.

In 2024 Plantfood asked me to create their debut album, designed specifically to be printed as a vinyl. The brief was to create a carnivorous plant consuming animals in a desolate landscape. I decided to make this using plasticine, to create a sculpted painting embodying the visceral and textured elements of the imagery. With graphic design by Jonathan Lodder.
